Este partido va a ser una especie de "desempate", entre dos equipos que salieron subcampeones de dos torneos que ganó Boca. En la temporada 2019/20, el Xeneize se consagró campeón de la Liga Profesional (River 2º) y de la Copa Diego Maradona (Banfield 2º). Entonces, para este "Trofeo de Campeones", Boca no tenía rival porque ganó los dos campeonatos. Así fue como pasó muchísimo tiempo, con Covid-19 en el medio, y todo quedó pendiente.

Finalmente la AFA decidió que el torneo tenga que jugarse en este 2023 (y sí, no se pierden ningún negocio ante un posible Superclásico). Boca espera en la final, mientras River y Banfield definen quién será su rival. El polémico partido será hoy a las 21.00, transmitido por ESPN Premium y TNT Sports.
